Fijah is a set of puzzle games made by CircleRoll LLC (“we”). This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about you, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: you can play without telling us anything about yourself, we don’t sell your data, and there are no ad networks or outside trackers in Fijah.
When you play as a guest
The first time you open Fijah, it makes a guest player for you: a random id and a made-up name like BreezyHana. The id is stored on your device and on our server, and it’s how your games, coins and progress are kept. You can change the name and pick a character; other players see them on leaderboards and in games you play together.
If you make an account
An account is optional and only for players 13 and older. It keeps your games with you on any device and opens the chat room. We ask for:
- a name others see, and a username made from it for your public profile page;
- your email address, so you can log in (it’s never shown to anyone);
- a password, which we store only as a salted scrypt hash, so nobody can read it, not even us;
- the year you were born, to check you’re 13 or older.
Your profile shows your name, character, when you joined, badges, streaks, Adventure progress and recent games. Your coins show only to you.
Your games
For each game you finish we keep the result (score, stars, time) and your moves, so the server can check the result is real. We also keep your coins, power-ups, items, streaks, badges, Adventure progress and daily limits, such as how many reward ads you watched today. Daily leaderboards show your name, character and result to other players.
Chat
- The chat room on the home page needs an account. Every message goes through a filter that blocks links, email addresses, phone numbers and rude words. Messages are kept only in the server’s memory and are gone within an hour.
- In Word Turf, the two players in a match can send each other preset phrases or short typed messages, checked by the same filter. They’re kept with the match.
- In a party room, players can send preset phrases or short typed messages, checked by the same filter. They aren’t stored: the server keeps only the room’s last few in its memory while the room is open.
- Anywhere you chat, you can report another player’s message or block them. If a message is reported, we keep a copy with who wrote it, so we can look at it. A block is kept on our server so it lasts: you won’t see that player’s messages anywhere, and the two of you can’t be friends.
Friends
You can add friends with your own invite link, by their username, or from the list of who’s online. We keep your friend list and friend requests, and when each of you was last active: friends see each other’s online status, last visit and streak, and a note when a friend beats you. When someone new joins through your invite link and finishes a first real game, you both get 100 coins. So that nobody can earn those coins with their own invite, the app keeps a random id for your device, and we compare those ids when someone joins through an invite.
Things you share
When you send a photo puzzle, a square copy of your photo (at most 1200 pixels) goes to our server, which first removes hidden details such as location and camera information. Drawings and crossword gifts are kept too, with the names and words you type on them. Each is kept with your player id, so it goes when you delete your account. Anyone with the link can open them, so share links only with people you trust. Anyone can report a shared photo, drawing or crossword; we keep each report with the reporter’s player id, so we can look into it. A reported photo or drawing is hidden at once from whoever reported it, and from everyone after two reports.
Before a guest first sends a photo, a drawing, a crossword gift, a typed message or a name of their own, the app asks the year they were born, once. We keep only the answer, 13 or older or not, never the year. Players under 13 can still play every game, but they can’t send these.
Purchases
On the web, coin packs are paid through Stripe. We tell Stripe your player id and the pack, so the coins reach you; Stripe handles your card details and we never see them. In the iPhone and Android apps, purchases go through Apple or Google, under their own privacy policies. We keep a record of each purchase: the pack, the price and when.
On your device
Your browser or the app keeps your player id, a random id for the device (for invite rewards, as above), language, sound and display settings, and a few counters (such as when you last saw an ad) in its local storage. Fijah doesn’t use cookies, except one that signs in members of our own team.
Other companies
We don’t use ad networks or outside analytics or trackers, and we don’t sell or share your data. The ads in Fijah today are our own, for our own features. Fijah loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when they load. Payments go through Stripe, Apple or Google, as above. We don’t keep a log of IP addresses; the servers that deliver Fijah see yours while they do it. If we ever add an ad network, we’ll update this page first and ask for any consent the law requires.
We do work out simple statistics of our own, on our own server, to see how people find Fijah, keep playing and share it. They come from what the server already keeps, plus which days each player plays, how often each shared link is opened, where a new player came from (a campaign tag on a link we shared, or which kind of shared link), and the coins spent on power-ups as daily totals. No IP addresses or device fingerprints go into them, and the summaries are counts only.
How long we keep things
Chat room messages: up to an hour. Party room messages: while the room is open. The days you played and the shared links opened, for our statistics: about 13 months. Everything else: as long as your player exists, until you delete your account. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, with nothing linking them to you once your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
Open your profile and tap Delete account. That deletes your account, username, email, password, chat messages, game results, coins, items, friends, and the photo puzzles, drawings and crossword gifts you sent, straight away. Purchase records stay, with nothing linking them to you. Can’t open the app? See Delete your account.
Playing as a guest? Your games are tied only to the random id on your device, not to who you are. Email us if you’d like them removed.
Children
Accounts are for players 13 and older, so we don’t knowingly collect a child’s email address or password. Younger players can play every game as guests; they can’t make an account or use the chat room, and they can’t send photos, drawings, crossword gifts, typed messages or a name of their own (a guest is asked the year they were born before the first of these). If you believe a child under 13 has made an account or shared something, email us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it: just email us. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), the law may give you more rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
